A note from our Directors

UPDATE: The Seattle Film Festival supports the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in their pursuit of a more equitable industry. We continue to champion filmmakers, writers, and actors at this crucial time. After much deliberation, we have decided to postpone our festival until early 2024 and look forward to welcoming you at the 9th annual Seattle film Festival. Our festival continues to take pride in supporting and launching Seattle area, national and international filmmakers, actors, writers and producers.

 2022 festival

As new festival directors in 2022 we were very excited to kick off the festival

with a meet & greet boat cruise across Lake Union.

After a weekend of successful theater screenings at the historic Grand Illusion Cinema, the festival continued with a red carpet awards show gala captured by Getty Images at the Bellevue Seattle Courtyard Marriott.

A two-week hybrid festival, with in-person and virtual screenings, featuring over 150 national and international films concluded last year's festival.

The Seattle Film Festival was created for independent filmmakers as a place to flourish and showcase original works.

This year we will continue in that spirit by welcoming filmmakers of all ages around the world, with any budget, to submit their film to our festival.

We will be expanding on last year's successful festival, with extra days of screenings of films at Seattle's historic Grand Illusion Cinema and the Edmonds Theater.

In addition to our networking boat cruise and filmmaker Q&A, we will be adding conference panels, speaker sessions and pop-up parties before celebrating the conclusion of our festival with our awards show gala.

Films that are digitally screened in our hybrid festival will now also be fully eligible for nominations and awards.

We look forward to your submissions and what's going to be a spectacular 2024 for the Seattle Film Festival and all our participating filmmakers!
